long-saturday

Phew, Saturday was a long day, but a really good one!

For those that don't know, I just recently got a new part time job: I'm the new Apple Campus Rep for McMaster! My job is essentially to be an evangelist for Apple on campus, giving demos and talks at Titles, table-top demos in the Student Centre, etc. Should be a whole lot of fun.

Anyway, as a part of that, I had 8 hours of training at Apple HQ in Markham on Saturday. So I woke up nice and early to make sure I wasn't late. I had to be there for 9am, and for some reason, I thought it would take me 1.5 hours to get there. Only ended up taking me 1 hour. The only reason I can think for my miscalculation is that everytime I've ever been to Markham, Herman has driven, and it always took about 1.5 hours. Maybe he's just a really slow driver :)

After the training was over, I booted it back to Hamilton to pick up Mel, so we could meet Chris and Kate and some Evertz folks for dinner.

Chris and Kate are pregnant (well, I guess Kate is pregnant and Chris is to blame), and wanted to come back to Hamilton for a visit one more time before the baby is due. So we all met up at Kelsey's. Really fun night, it was good seeing Chris and Kate, as well as the Evertz boys. Conversation ranged from Wii to power tools to babies to strippers. A certain female at the dinner table was surprisingly well versed in the Hamilton strip club scene.

I miss seeing the Evertz boys every day. They're all really fun, and we get along really well. Plus (on a less social note), it was nice when I worked there to be able to talk tech (ie. Python) with people who understood what it's all about. I don't really have anyone like that at school. Feels like I'm surrounded by a bunch of Java lovers at school. Oh well, that's the price you pay for leaving a place you really like to give school another try.

Haha, funny, Jay :) Markham only takes me an hour when the driving conditions are good (such as early Saturday morning). Plus where Apple is located in Markham means no driving on the dreaded Hwy 7 parking lot or following people leaving stores to get a parking space at Pacific Mall.

Congrats on the new position with Apple. Do you get employee discounts? ;)

SLOW DRIVER!

Because I'm actually an employee of FireFox Marketing, and not directly of Apple, I don't think I get empoyee discount. Totally forgot to ask though.

I totally missed the stripper conversation. It must have happened at the other end of the table and in balance for all the baby talk at my end of the table.

I can't remember if the stripper talked happened before or after you took your seat for dessert. Because if it happened during (or after) dessert, then you would have been right beside the conversation :)
